When I first started my collection I was in awe of so many different ones and didn’t know which one to choose first. If you are just starting to experiment with the different materials that dildos are made from I have a little info that might be of a little interest. The ones made of “rubber” have been available for a long time and mainly because they are inexpensive to buy. They will be very firm and not porous and that makes them easy to clean with warm water and soap. They are offered in different colors but most are in Caucasian and chocolate. Dildos made from “jelly” are probably the most popular and I find them a favorite. They are very pliable and just a little squishy, but still have that firm texture. They are playful looking and very appealing to the eye, some are available in fruity scents. I like these because they mask the rubber odor. If it’s color you like, you will have a huge selection to pick from as they come in almost every color of the rainbow. It’s nice that they warm to body temperature rather quickly and actually feel rather real upon penetration. The jelly material is porous which makes for extra care in cleaning. I like to use a condom on mine for easy cleaning but I still wash them very thoroughly with warm water and soap after each use. There are commercial cleaners for your sex toys if you prefer to go that route. The main thing is no bacterial infections. Now we get to the newest and most advanced material that dildos are being made from, “Cyberskin”. You must try one of them as they are the closest you can get to the feel of real skin. They are smooth, soft, squishy and flexible. So life-like. Because they are so porous it is imperative they are cleaned very thoroughly after each and every use. A condom can be used but most of us want this type of material for its life like texture and the condom takes away from that. Most of the Cyberskin sex toys will come with a special cleaner but if not warm water and soap is ok. I have found that they are a little sticky after cleaning but a little dusting of cornstarch does the trick. It should be dry before storing and I like to wrap mine in a clean, soft cloth, in fact I do all my dildos that way to keep them separate from each other. I must say that the dildos made from “silicone” are high on my list. They are a bit more expensive. What makes them so appealing is the way they retain heat and warm to body temperature so quickly not to mention the smooth velvety feel. You will find them in a huge array of sizes and colors. The silicone dildos are a breeze to clean because they are non porous, just soap and water, or soak in boiling water. The top rack of the dishwasher is fine too. Now let me get into the “glass” dildo, which is the newest material to hit the adult toy market and women truly love them. Not only are dildos made of glass the smoothest but are absolutely gorgeous and most a true work of art. Most are hand blown which of course is why they are a bit expensive. Never worry, they are incredibly strong and should last a lifetime. If you happen to drop it on a hard surface check it for a nick before using just to be safe. You might not believe it but they warm to body temperature quickly and will retain the warmth so well. Being non porous makes cleaning and sanitizing so simple and easy, warm soapy water and/or boiling. I’ve been amazed at the beauty of some of the glass dildos, so much so that I like to display a few of my favorites. They are just too pretty to store in my sex toy chest.
